Work in Progress

The Start of a series has begun

This Series will mainly focus on underwater ocean scapes that depict any and all our marine life and their habitat. The ocean and its creatures need our help and my hope is that my series will help raise awareness of the issues faced by our marine life. I wanted to show how precious this ecosystem is and how vital it is. Having snorkelled at the Great Barrier Reef myself I have seen first hand how beautiful it is and how vital preserving both the habitat and marine life is not only for them but for us.

This painting is now complete!

title: life below

Painting Description:

This painting explores the varied rhythms and lifestyles of marine life, offering a closer look at the different paces and patterns that define underwater existence. It contrasts swift species such as the marlin with slower-moving inhabitants like the green sea turtle, highlighting the diversity of movement, feeding habits, and survival strategies that coexist within the ocean ecosystem.

WIP no name yet

This work in progress is on Linen canvas as will all my following works as I find it much better for all the details.

The work started off with a concept in my visual diary, as several thumb nails this is to get the tone and design just right so I know the road a head.

I then drew it on to the canvas with pencil and then outlined the whole picture in Grisaille. After that which where this new painting is unto I start adding the shadows in, which I’m doing in purple. I will continue to make changes to the design in this stage until I am completely fine with it. Then I’ll move onto the modelling stage.

But that will be in a later WIP,
